Seminis Vegetable Seeds hosted the first ever South Australia Protected Crops Open Day at the Seminis Greenhouse in Virginia, South Australia on 5 December 2019.
Hosting over 30 growers and industry professionals, Protected Crops Open Day featured one on one walk-throughs of current crop trials of capsicums, cucumbers, chilis, eggplants and tomatoes.
Market Development Specialist, Adrian Simkins shared his insight and expertise on protected cropping, including agronomic tips and tricks for local growing conditions.
“This was a great opportunity to showcase our protected crops and varieties currently coming through the pipeline,” says Adrian. “Growers were pleased with what they saw, and some are keen to introduce varieties into their own program.”
Protected Crops Open Day was the first ever Seminis field event to be held within the state, and was a test for both the Sales and Marketing teams to see how events, particularly in the Virginia region, are received.
South Australia Regional Business Manager, Linda Ferrarese was pleased with the turn out.
“The event allowed us to develop and create deeper relationships with our local customers,” says Linda. “Adrian and I were both able to discuss our portfolio with key customers and show them that seeing is believing with some of our varieties.”
Horticulture Territory Business Manager, Darren Alexander was also in attendance to discuss the importance of crop protection, as well as the perks of utilising and adapting products such as Serenade to your planting program.
